Buyer of Estates .com FAQ's (Favorite Asked Questions)
1) How safe is it to mail my jewelry and
diamonds?
At BuyerOfEstates.com we suggest using the United States Postal
Service (USPS) there is no safer way to ship valuables than
through the USPS with insurance. When you ship your items
using USPS with insurance you are using the safest possible
method of shipping your valuables. When you valuables are
received from USPS into our possession your jewelry is secure in
our state of the art and bonded facility.
2) Can I feel confident that I will be receiving the best
price for my items?
You bet! Unlike other buyers of estates located on the
Internet we do not buy expensive leads nor ship so called "gold
kits" and other packaging materials to a dozen "leads" just to
get one person to send back their items. We count on our
customers to pay to ship their items to us allowing
BuyerOfEstates.com to pay the maximum dollar for all your
valuables in your estate. At BuyerOfEstates.com we have an
extensive network of international watch and jewelry dealers
allowing us to ascertain the highest possible prices for our
customers. Because you are paying to ship your items to us
you are not paying for dozens of people who request packaging
from a company and then do not send in their items. Our
overhead is much less than other companies allowing
BuyerofEstates.com to pay the maximum price to our customers.
3) Is the sale of my jewelry/fine timepiece reported to the
IRS or other govt. agency?
NO!, the IRS does not require purchases to be reported.
4) Who will contact me regarding my jewelry / estate item(s)
shipment?
All packages received are reviewed and evaluated by one of our
gemologists/appraisers. Once a complete analysis has been
performed we will call you discuss our findings, and provide a
purchase offer.
As with www.BuyerofGold.com
and here at
www.BuyerofEstates.com we will be happy to address any
questions or concerns regarding your fine jewelry and other
estate items.
5) What if I decide not to sell my jewelry and other estate
items?

our purchase offer.
6) Why sell your estate items to Buyer of Estates .com rather
than a local jeweler or local Buyer of Estates?

working with someone very local to you as throughout the
BuyerOfEstates.com Network we have agents working in virtually
every major city and state. In addition to working with
someone within your geographic area BuyerofEstaes.com employs a
vast international network of dealers affording us the ability
to offer you the highest prices possible for your unwanted

Diamonds FAQ’s
1) Is there a difference between a jewelry store appraisal
and a certificate?
Yes, there is a monumental difference. The appraisal that is
provided by the retail jeweler, even if they are a G.I.A
gemologist is strictly their opinion, and is primarily for
insurance purposes.
Generally jewelry store appraisals are used as a marketing tool
by the retail jeweler, and usually have a highly inflated
valuation as well as an inflated color and clarity grade.
2) Why types of certificates do you accept?
We prefer the Gemological Institute of America's (G.I.A) diamond
grading reports, but also accept European Gemological Laboratory
(E.G.L) diamond certificates and American Gem Society diamond
grading reports. The Certificate must match numbers on the
diamond.
3) Why is a diamond grading report form the GIA preferable?
Internationally, the GIA is the preeminent source of gemological
knowledge. The GIA diamond grading report and the GIA diamond
dossier are considered the world's premier credentials for a
diamond. This enables the diamond to be sold and traded
world-wide. Diamond dealers around the globe buy and sell
diamonds sight unseen based strictly on the GIA grading report.
Some of the most famous diamonds in the world have been graded
by the GIA including the Hope Diamond on display at the
Smithsonian and the Taylor-Burton Diamond at 69.42cts.
4) Do you buy diamonds that are not certified?
Yes, of Course we do! Most of our customers have diamonds
that were either inherited or they received as gifts, and do not
have a certificate. One of our gemologists will perform a
complete evaluation of your diamond upon receipt and call you
with our findings and purchase offer.
5) Do you purchase Fancy color diamonds (like yellow, pink
and blue diamonds)?
YES!, we purchase natural fancy color diamonds. Fancy
color diamonds exist in a rainbow of yellows, reds, pinks,
blues, greens, purples and all shades in-between. Most
diamonds have some value if they are of reasonable size a half a
carat or greater.
6) Do you purchase lab-created or simulated diamonds?
No. Unfortunately BuyerofEstates.com cannot re-sell or wholesale
lab-created or simulated diamonds. Our expertise and
experience is on purchasing only natural diamonds.
Lab-created and simulated diamonds have little to no resale
value to anyone.
WATCHES FAQ’s
1) Will you purchase an imitation watch (for example fake
rolex)?
Unfortunately replica's or "fakes" have no resale value to
BuyerOfEstates.com or anyone.
2) Does my pre-owned watch need to be in working condition?
No, however, usually a pre-owned watch that is not in working
condition has slightly less value than a watch that is
functioning properly. Keep in mind that very rare or collectable
watches command a high price regardless of condition, these
include: Rolex, Tag, Movado, Phillipe etc.
3) Do you purchase pre-owned watches that are not made of
gold or platinum?
YES! In fact many high end watchmakers use stainless
steel, acrylics, even plastics and other metals. Certain
stainless steel models actually have greater resale value than a
watch constructed from gold or platinum.
4) Do the original box and papers add value to my pre-owned
watch?
YES! However, having the original box and papers is not
required, however in some cases having the original box, papers
and manufacturers manuals can add substantial value. When
in doubt send in your original papers and box this will enable
us to offer you a higher value.
5) Do you purchase antique and vintage watches?
Yes, of course, BuyerOfEstates.com purchases watches of all
ages. Keep in mind that a mass-marketed antique watch may
have very little to no resale value, where as a custom or signed
piece may have substantial value. If in doubt about your
watch please send it in for an evaluation.
As with all pre-owned watches resale value is based on the
marketability of the watch.
